It is no secret that there have been rumblings of disquiet and discontent in the Irish MMA world for sometime.
It appears a significant number of MMA clubs are in despair about the state of the Irish Amateur MMA scene and are preparing to take action.
A flurry of social media posts this morning seem to confirm that.
I spoke to Paul Cowzer of Rush Fight Academy this morning and I can confirm the following :
A meeting is taking place at 12 pm on Sunday 16th of December at the Lucan Spa Hotel inviting Irish MMA clubs to attend. The subject up for debate is the state of Irish Amateur MMA and exploring ways of moving it forward.
Paul couldn’t confirm or deny if a breakaway association from IMMAA was on the agenda for the meeting.
While he wouldn’t reveal the exact number of clubs behind the action he did confirm it was well into double digits at this stage.
The core group are inviting interested clubs from all over the island to attend the meeting in Lucan.
MMA clubs can contact Paul Cowzer to book a place for a member or members of their club. Visitors that have difficulty travelling can reach out and a regional member of the core group will liaise with them to try and pool transport.
