Conor McGregor dropped yet another bomb on Ali Abdelaziz last night in Las Vegas at the the pre-fight Press conference.
” In New York City on September 11 2001 – He (Ali AbDelaziz) was caught with 5 Passports in his Possession, He turned informant on the people he was working with…I don’t know how that man is EVEN in this country”
McGregor further claimed Ali Abdelaziz was on a flight from Cairo to New York when he was caught, flipped and turned informant. The historical significance of the date involved is obviously going to cause a huge uproar in the United States. If Khabib wasn’t feeling pressure before he has a motherload of it coming his way in the next 36 hours.
McGregor did not claim anything specific regarding the Sepetember 11th attacks but the signifcance of the date will not be lost on anyone inside or outside of the sport.
Just how exactly Conor McGregor has come into possession of this information is not clear. It is surely going to ratchet up even more tension between the two camps.
Before the McGregor dropped this bombshell – seasoned MMA commentators like Brendan Schaub were saying they would not be going to the fight. He was on the Joe Rogan podcast yesterday saying The threat of violence erupting in the crowd between Russian and Irish fans was huge.
After this comment by McGregor that threat has probably escalated even further.
This is the second press conference in a row McGregor has gone after Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager in what can only be described as accusations of terrorist activity. Luckily for Khabib he had already left the stage by the time McGregor arrived at the press conference.
There is no suggestion that Nurmagomedov is directly or indirectly linked to any of the alleged activities of his manager. The UFC however will be kicking themselves as in a brave move by the organisation in the UFC 229 EMBEDDED series they gave a fair and benign insight into Khabib’s religious practices as a practicing Muslim. Will this be seen to have backfired if McGregor’s allegations about Ali Abdelaziz manager are true.
The focus will surely turn now, to what U.S. Law enforcement agencies entered into a deal with Ali Abdelaziz back in 2001 and if he is still working with U.S. government agencies, what his involvement, if any, was with terrorist cells and finally who was he seeking to provide passports for. Many will question the wisdom of Conor McGregor to make so explicit an accusation (even if it is true) as there are potentially deadly consequences for Ali Abdelaziz and his extended family. This is not normal prefight shit-talk – it is the type of language that could get people killed.
Last nights allegations could threaten to overshadow even the biggest UFC fight in history and will certainly bring scrutiny from wider news agencies, Security agencies and god only know who else.
Conor McGregor hasn’t lost his touch. The fight is going to be fucking HUGE after last night.
i say anti-muslim racism
